BLA, OALA, CSLA (Associate)
Mathijs is a graduate of the Bachelor of Landscape Architecture program at the University of Guelph, where he served as a lead liaison for LABash, a North American student conference. He is working toward his licensure as a landscape architect under the Ontario Association of Landscape Architects and is dedicated to a career that balances professional growth with meaningful community impact.
With a strong interest in park development and community design, Mathijs is passionate about exploring innovative approaches that strengthen and enrich public spaces. He is particularly interested in how thoughtful design can foster social connection, accessibility, and long-term sustainability within communities. His capstone and thesis work focused on inclusive play, reflecting his belief in the importance of creating holistic landscapes that are accessible and welcoming to people of all ages and abilities.
Outside of the office, Mathijs enjoys playing soccer and volleyball, as well as exploring new landscapes through photography. He finds photography to be a way of studying space and detail from a different perspective, often inspiring his design process and deepening his appreciation for the environments around him.
