SDG Wins the Grey County Signage Features Project

The world of business is in constant motion. As clients’ needs, corporations, and technologies change, transformations in the marketplace compel companies to step back, reassess their place in the universe and adjust to the new reality around them. The practice of rebranding is the ideal way to process self-assessment and re-adjustment, so you can recalibrate and reenergize your brand. In 2013, Grey County is currently undertaking a rebranding within their corporation and as such retained the landscape architectural design services of Seferian Design Group to redesign four gateway signage features throughout the County, including one prominent sign at the County Administration Building in Owen Sound. Our team is excited about the opportunity to redefine the sense of place and strengthen the identity of the County through the signage project.

Our approach to the signage design is to create a modern, yet timeless design that incorporates several aspects of Grey County that make it unique. Our design will include local, quarried stone as the focal point for each sign with the new Grey County logo etched within the rock to create a timeless feel. The signage must be grand enough to be viewed from adjacent roadways and take into account design speeds. In addition to the sign itself, our design incorporates mass plantings of ornamental grasses, shrubs, perennials, and tree plantings (i.e. birch grove) to maximize the presence of the signs while balancing/reducing overall construction costs.

Our design for the signage is simple, bold, and clean, to create a memorable space and landmark within the County. With construction commencing in fall of 2013, our team will achieve design excellence and provide the County with outstanding value for their budget and represent the people of Grey County locally, regionally, and globally.
